Things we see along the beach! - Monday - August 23
Well, the men are praying (with a loud speaker much less!!) right below my bedroom window. They are working on the main Masque in Dar Bouazza (the town I live in), so the have a temporary one made in the street below our bedroom windows!) The happens from 9-10pm and then again from 4 - 5AM!! So, I thought I would write a bit more on my blog!
The beach is always a FUN place to see things.....
The beach can be sandy and smooth OR there might be areas of layers and layers of rocks
Look closely and see the wonderful designs in the sand!!
Shells and moss and who knows what.....but very cool to look at!!
Notice the Moroccans....the man in swim suit gear and the women covered from head to toe??!!
These are sights we see on our morning walks. We were walking along the sidewalk near the ocean. The Moroccans put up these "tents" at the end of the school year and "live" on the beach for the summer.....satellite dishes and all!! It's crazy....we are walking along and we will hear a TV going inside one of these homes! Dishes are free here so EVERYONE has one....along the beach, in the slums.....everyone! :)
We also saw a couple of sweet young girls tending the sheep. They waved hello to us and smiled back to us!
Lately, Marcia and I have been walking in the late afternoon when it is cooler AND right along the water on the beach. We carry our flip flops and enjoy the water and sand in between our toes.....it was wonderful today after a long day at teacher training!
Well, it is 9:58 pm, the men are done praying and my battery is running low....guess that means I am off to bed. Except that the neighborhood is bustling with noise of children playing and teenagers riding mopeds up and down the street. Ramadan.....I am anxious to see how different things are when Ramadan is finished (Sept. 11, I believe)...!
Blessings everyone! Jil

Oh, Jill. I haven't been to your blog in a while. What an adventure you are having!! The new house sounds much better. Fleas were not part of the deal, right!?! I'm anxious to hear how teaching is going. The kids have got to be fun. Hanna has kids on Wed. She's anxious to get started. Be safe. Love you. Kay
