Madrid was beautiful! We loved being out of Africa for a weekend. There were tons of gorgeous fountains and statues everywhere you looked.
There were also great mimes all over town! They were amazing to watch.
I'm not sure of what type of tree this was but it had the most lovely smelling flowers and these cute little yellow puff balls!
The fall colors were such a treat!! They were beautiful and reminded me of home!
The buildings were gorgeous and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue!
More fall colors in the parks!
Judy and I in front of the Prado. The Renoir exhibit was showing that weekend. What a beautiful museum!
Looks kind of like Steamboat, CO....but it is Madrid, Spain!!
Another beautiful sunny morning in Madrid. I'm standing with Dennis and Shirley as we wait for the bus. They are teachers I from my school. They are here from Canada. Six of us traveled to Spain together this weekend.
This one is for you, Eric. It was a motorcycle we saw along the street and it was COVERED with little toys that had been glued onto the motorcycle!
My favorite part of the whole weekend was getting to spend time with Brian and Kate! They are with John Deere and have worked in Madrid since last Feb. It was wonderful to get to see them again! What an awesome couple. They took us to fun places to eat and sight-see, to their home and then to church with them.
Brian and Kate.....oh so cute! We were standing outside of the palace.
The fall colors were especially pretty in the park near where Brian and Kate live.
Thanks Brian and Kate for a little bit of "home". Visiting you was terrific!! They were wonderful host and hostess. We went to their church and then had to take off for Africa again. I will try to get back to Spain to visit them again!
Our weekend ended a little bit scary......we got on the airplane and sat there waiting for it to take off when we noticed some rustling in the rear of the plane. Soon a man was asked to leave the plane(he had refused to turn his phone and computer off. When he finally did, he continued on to swear at the flight attendants). Then while we were waiting for his luggage to be found another man in the third row gets up and yells, "You are racists! If he had been a European that wouldn't have happened. You did that because he was from North Africa!" So then lots of Arabic people stood and start to get in on the argument. I lowered my head and prayed. Two hours later.....the man in the third row settled down and we took off. When we arrived in Casa.... AGAIN....the man in the third row got up and saw that his luggage was 5 rows behind him. Instead of waiting patiently (people here don't do that well), he trampled over some elderly ladies and small children to make his way back to get his bags. :(
But, all in all, it was a terrific weekend!
Thank you Lord for keeping us safe and showing me another beautiful country!
Wow! Nice bike.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you could spend some time with Brian and Kate in Madrid. They love company and always share their favorite places...which usually include food! Did you love that fish at Alhambra?!? Have fun in Italy--you will LOVE it!
