Celebrating Chinese New Year!

A couple weeks ago we celebrated Chinese New Year in the second grade classes. Gail's (my co-worker and friend) parents  were originally from Asia and then moved Michigan before she was born. So she had lots of little "extras" to help make the celebration interesting!

This was a book Gail shared with my class. It had all kinds of great activities about China for the kids to actively learn more about Chinese New Year. They had fun learning a few words and facts about China.

The kids enjoyed coloring in the dragon masks and trying them on! Can you believe they don't sell crayons in Morocco??!! The kids get one box of crayons at the beginning of the year that are shipped here from the US! But they LOVE using markers!!  Personally, I LOVE crayons best!! Good thing I brought some of my own.

The students were allowed to wear red that day. These are  three of my kids that really got into the whole clothes idea!! Aren't they adorable? Yes....that's my little Kung Fu Zack in the middle again! :)
